I had the awesome privilege of being interviewed by Kinfolk Magazine on the subject of Sensitivity Reading. The subject has been a hot topic lately, especially with those in the UK who don’t understand what it is and how it works.

As a Sensitivity Reader, I review books, scripts, marketing material for unintentional bias, misrepresentations, and such. I help the author/creator’s work become more authentic with comments from personal experiences, life experiences.  I share my perspective and provide feedback along with research material so that the creator can look into it further. That is where my role ends.

As sensitivity readers we have no magical powers, do not cross out offensive material, nor have the final word on what gets published. That is left up wholly to the publisher. In fact, it is not our job to follow up to see if changes were made or not. We simply offer our expert opinions.

Below is the article from magazine. it’s a quick read. If you have any suggestions, use my CONTACT PAGE to get a hold of me.
