It’s Been a Looooog Time!

Hi Everyone!

Patrice here.  It’s been a while since I ‘ve emailed everyone.  How are you??? I hope COVID has skipped over my subscribers.  That would be wonderful.

So, what have I been up to? I’ve been busy, (not only as a foster mom to an infant, and being a dog mom), as I’ve jumped back into television and film writing as well.  I’ve rewritten several scripts, wrote some new ones, and will be releasing a sweet holiday romance in November.

Anyone a fan of, THE MORNING SHOW on Apple+?  I wrote a script for that show as a writing sample, and have gotten some great feedback from it.  I think this show is the best character of Jennifer Aniston’s career.

Also took a 10-day birthday holiday to North Carolina and stayed with my father and met an unknown multitute of relatives who all came out to meet me.  My favorite nicknames of my newfound relatives are: Creepy, Bone Bone and Chubby (who isn’t chubby by the way).  I have a very boring nickname, by comparison.

I recorded my father sharing a 200-year-old family bible where all the births and deaths on his side of the family, were recorded.  Black families did this as a way to keep records when we weren’t considered a full human being and worthy of recordings of our births.

My father also shared with me stories of him and the 1950-60’s soul singer, the King of Soul, Sam Cooke.  He met Sam when he was a child and Sam was in his early twenties. He then reconnected with him about a year or two prior to his murder.  He attended Cooke’s funeral and still holds onto the program and rose from the coffin.  I’ve always been fascinated by Cooke and vowel to write either a book or screenplay about his life story, or a portion of his life.

I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here for now.  But don’t be a stranger and reply to this email if you have something to share.  I’d love to hear all about it.

My next post I’ll share with you my new book release and any great news on the screenwriting front.

Until next time…

Patrice
